Buffer Shaft Extension

What Does It Do?

• Extends the shaft of your bench grinder / buffing machine by about 3.5"
  
• Allows more room for maneuvering parts while buffing
  

How Does It Work?

This extension simply slides onto the shaft of your machine and is held in place by set screws. It does not change the shaft diameter of your machine. For example, if you purchase the extension for a machine with a 1/2" shaft size, the extension will retain that 1/2" size.

There is an option for a right or left side kit. The right side uses a right hand thread and must be mounted on the right side of your machine, while the left side uses a left hand thread and must be used on the left. Can be used on a bench grinder or buffing machine.

This extension is designed to be used for light buffing and sanding, it is not recommended to be used for heavy grinding applications.

How To

1. If your machine has guards, remove them as well as any wheels mounted on the machine.
2. Only mount right side extension onto the right side of your machine, and left side on the left. If you mount it on the wrong side, the nut will not stay tight.
3. Make sure the shaft on your machine is clean and free of any burrs.
4. Slide extension onto shaft, tap end with a rubber mallet to ensure it is fully seated.
5. If extension is slightly loose on shaft and wiggles from side to side, wrap teflon tape around the threads on machine until extension fits snug. Do not use extension if fitment is sloppy.
6. If extension won't slide onto machine, measure the shaft size with a set of calipers to ensure you purchased the correct size extension. You may be able to sand down the shaft of the machine if the difference is minimal.
7. Once extension is on the machine's shaft fully, apply blue thread locker to the set screws and tighten screws as evenly as possible with the included allen wrench.
8. Spin the shaft by hand to ensure the extension is on straight and there is no wobble.
9. If it appears balanced, mount a wheel onto the extension and turn on machine to test for vibration. 
10. In the event of vibration, turn off the machine immediately and remove the extension. Ensure it fits snug on shaft and the set screws are tightened evenly.
11. Check the extension to make sure it is tight on the machine before each use.
12. Always wear a dust mask or respirator and eye protection while buffing!
